Toptier Sports Management (TSM) has announced a significant N40 billion investment in Nigerian football, targeting both the Nigeria National League (NNL), the men’s second-tier, and the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL).
This substantial 10-year sponsorship deal was formally agreed upon during a signing ceremony in Abuja on Friday in the presence of the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade; General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Sanusi Muhammed, alongside officials from the NNL and NWFL, media, and other stakeholders.
The decade-long strategic investment is poised to revolutionise the NWFL and NNL, marking a pivotal moment for the country’s domestic football scene.
Chichi Nwoko, founder of Toptier Sports Management, stated: “This is a long-term investment in structure, people, and possibilities. If Nigerian football is to truly compete, it must be built deliberately, funded properly, and managed professionally. That is what this N40 billion commitment represents.”
She elaborated that the significant investment will drive commercialisation, club development, player welfare, and grassroots expansion for both the NNL and NWFL, paving the way for a brighter future for Nigerian football. Nwoko also extended gratitude to the National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation for their leadership and support in fostering a private-sector-led future for Nigerian sports.
Hon. Bukola Olopade, Director General, National Sports Commission, commented: “This N40 billion commitment is a clear vote of confidence in the reforms taking place across Nigerian sports. At the Commission, we are intentional about creating an environment where credible private investors can partner with government to build sustainable leagues, protect athlete welfare, and grow the sports economy.”
NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, represented by Dr Sanusi Muhammed, welcomed the deal as a positive development for Nigeria’s domestic football ecosystem.
He added: “The NFF welcomes this collaboration because it strengthens our domestic football ecosystem, improving player welfare, enhancing club operations, and creating clear development pathways, particularly for women and emerging talents. This is how we build a future-ready Nigerian football system.”
George Aluo, Chairman of the NNL, thanked Toptier Sports Management for the partnership, assuring transparency in the deal’s implementation and accountability for every kobo. He described the agreement as a turning point, shifting Nigerian football from short-term funding cycles to sustainable institution-building over the next decade.
