Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress campaign council, saying she has chosen to stay out of politics.
The Nollywood actress spoke out on Thursday after her name appeared in a list released by the Lagos APC campaign council ahead of its scheduled inauguration on Friday, September 18.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” Abraham said in a statement shared on her Instagram Story.
The published list places Abraham among 33 personalities under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
It also names veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, as well as actors Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as Director of the directorate, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
Other names on the list include Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Malaika, Osupa and Small Doctor.
The wider campaign council is chaired by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat listed as Deputy Chairman.
The council is scheduled to be inaugurated at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Abraham’s statement leaves her reported inclusion in the published list at odds with her own stated position.
