Traders, Mechanics To Close Shops For Apo-Wasa Road Commissioning

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced the temporary closure of the Apo-Wasa road tomorrow, June 13, 2025, between 11 am and 4 pm, ahead of its commissioning by President Bola Tinubu.

The newly constructed Left-Hand Service Carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Stage II, stretching from Ring Road I (RRI) Junction to Wasa Junction, will be officially inaugurated by the President at 2:30 pm.

In a press statement on Thursday, the senior special assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, urged motorists to use alternative routes during the closure.

“Traffic enforcement personnel will be deployed to the affected areas to guide motorists and minimise inconvenience. The FCTA appeals to road users to bear with the government during this temporary closure,” he stated.

Meanwhile, traders and mechanics operating in the Apo Mechanic Village have volunteered to shut their shops tomorrow to participate in the event and give President Tinubu a rousing welcome.

The associations have directed their members to suspend business activities for the day and resume on Saturday.

“We are excited about this project and want to show our support for the President by closing our shops and joining the celebration,” said a representative of the Apo Traders Association.

The FCTA reassured the public that adequate measures have been taken to ensure smooth traffic flow along alternative routes, and motorists are advised to plan their movements accordingly.
