Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) commander Gen. Kelvin Aligbe has said to efficiently cope with the current security challenges, research into the situation must be encouraged.
He started this at the combine mid-year course appraisal, curriculum harmonisation and research development conference 2023 in Minna, Niger State.
Aligbe said research and training are a must in order to tackle contemporary security challenges
He said, “To efficiently cope with the current security challenges, development in the field of training and research is a must.”
The commander reiterated the commitment of TRADOC to research development in a bid to effectively address the contemporary security challenges confronting the country.
Aligbe, represented at the workshop with the theme: “Enhancing Research and Development Capacity Building in Nigerian Army and Division Training Schools to Contain Prevailing Security Challenges” by the chief of training, Maj. Gen. Jami’u Jimoh, said the conference would bridge the gaps in the Nigerian Army’s research and development drive as well as its curriculum.
He said the conference would provide an opportunity for participants to assess the recent developments and highlight viable efforts in mitigating security challenges.
He said the training was to produce troops who were proactively ” seeking out adversaries, employing the offensive capability of a well-trained, highly motivated, hard added force of striking decisively with speed and enormous backup”.
The commander, therefore, urged participants to show keen interest and take advantage of the opportunity to broaden their knowledge to enable them to step it down to the personnel through their various training establishments.
In his welcome address, the chief of research and development, Maj. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, said research and development were very Key to the survival of any country or institution and therefore lauded the commander for organising the conference.
