Tribunal Begins Pre-hearing In Sokoto, Zamfara Re-run Elections

Election Petition Tribunal for the February 4 re-run elections in Sokoto and Zamfara states has begun pre-hearing sitting, with two petitions from Sokoto and one from Zamfara.

The tribunal, consisting of three members including a chairman, with Barrister Innocent Akidi serving as secretary, has a 180-day mandate to complete its assignment from the date of the declaration of the re-run election results.

The three petitions before the tribunal include, Sule Hantsi Romo of the People Democratic Party (PDP) against Bashar Ahmed Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and APC in the Sokoto State House of Assembly re-run election for Tambuwal West Constituency.

Umar Abubakar of APC against Umar Yusuf Yabo of PDP, INEC, and PDP in the re-run election conducted for Yabo/Shagari federal constituency of Sokoto State.

Aliyu Usman Mahmud of APC against Usman Mustapha of PDP, INEC, and PDP in the re-run election conducted for Shinkafi State Assembly Constituency of Zamfara State.

The tribunal has adjourned its sitting to Thursday, April 18, for the continuation of the pre-hearing on the three petitions before it.
