The general manager of the Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Ivie Idahosa, yesterday described the Election Tribunal’s judgement which affirmed the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, as a triumph for democracy.

A three-member tribunal panel led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi in Abuja had dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asuen Ighodalo.

The tribunal ruled that the petitioners failed to prove their allegations of over -voting and upheld that Okpebholo secured the highest number of valid votes.

Ivie in a press statement she endorsed and made available to newsmen in Benin said the judgement was a clear reflection of the free mandate given to the governor by Edo people.

She said, “I am  thrilled by the news of your victory at the Governorship election Tribunal is a testimony to your tireless efforts, unwavering dedication and unrelenting passion for the people of Edo State.

“The landmark judgment was not only sound and thorough but reflected the will of the people. It reinforced the mandate freely given by the teeming Edo people who trooped out en masse on the 21st of September, 2024, to vote for a progressive change.

“The  positive outcome did not come as a surprise to Edo people who voted overwhelmingly for you and your Deputy, Rt.Dennis Idahosa, the people are nevertheless relieved that the distraction which the trial posed to the smooth and speedy implementation of your visionary and articulate governance, has been laid aside.
“I have no doubt that your resolve to implement your revolutionary 5-point agenda is further rekindled and your unwavering commitment to take Edo to heights yet will gain more traction.

“Let me also use this medium to express my appreciation to the judiciary which did not succumb to blackmail of the opposition, but stood firm on the side of evidence and truth to uphold the decision of Edo people.

“Also I want to congratulate all members of the APC, the supporters of the party and our amiable Governor, and indeed all Edo people, on this monumental triumph. Our expectation of the Governor to deliver premium governance is now very assured as we look forward to great developments that are already ubiquitous.

“As an intervention agency, we will continue in promoting social and economic development at the grassroots aim at improving access to healthcare, education, water and sanitation in line with your agenda to uplift the living standard of the Edo people”.
