An industrial technology company concentrated on helping the world work, better, Trimble has said it’s committed to expanding its business footprint in West Africa, especially in Nigeria, which has the largest GDP in the continent.

The firm said the sub-region will benefit from the innovative solutions of Trimble in different areas including agriculture, infrastructure, and construction. “The firm its technology enables jobs to get done more precisely and accurately so you can build, construct, grow and move the things we need to live our lives and build future communities,” the firm said in a statement to mark the end of its first-ever in-person “Trimble Days in West Africa” event that was held on September 25 & 26, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Lagos Nigeria.

The event followed Trimble’s previous virtual event “Trimble Day in Nigeria” back in 2021, which introduced the U.S.-based technology company to the Nigerian public. The theme of the event focused on the opportunities to enhance businesses through the deployment of digital technology across several sectors in Nigeria.

Throughout the two-day event, Trimble representatives from various parts of the world discussed products that will help boost productivity in the areas of agriculture, surveying, architecture, mining, construction, utilities, energy, and land administration.

The event was attended by over 100 persons from the public & private sector, and it featured plenary, breakout sessions and live demonstrations from Trimble.

Vice president and executive director, of emerging markets and funded projects for Trimble, Albert Momo, gave the assurance in his opening remarks on the first day of the event. Representatives from the Office of The Surveyor-General of The Federation (OSGOF) were also present at the event.

The general overview of the event from the attendees was seen from the angles of education and exposure to a new way of life, the president of the Geoinformation Society of Nigeria, Dr. Fitka Steve Bilshakka, echoed these thoughts.

“The program has been quite interesting and educating. From today’s lecture, Trimble’s RTX corrections services are there to complement, and enhance accuracy and performance,” Dr Bilshakka said.

Acting director for the survey coordination office of the Surveyor-general of the federation, Dr. Semiu Akanni Ayinde praised the success of the event and even highlighted future projects with Trimble and OSGOF.

“I have come to understand why Trimble happens to be the best. Presently, OSGOF is partnering with Trimble to manage the core stations in Nigeria. Part of the reason OSGOF is to continue the discussion started two years ago. We are looking forward to working with Trimble through a partnership with OSGOF to help us facilitate how we are going to be having RTK service in Nigeria, comparable to international best practices,” Dr Ayinde said.
