Troops Arrest 2 Lakurawa Terrorists, 49 Oil Thieves

Defence Headquarters says troops arrested two Lakurawa terrorist members in Kebbi and Sokoto states and killed scores of terrorists in North East and other areas within the week.

The director of defence media operations, Major General Markus Kangye in a statement yesterday said troops also arrested 49 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N869.2m in the week under review.

He added that several kidnapped hostages were also rescued.

“Troops, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspected Lakurawa terrorist members in Arewa and Tangaza LGs of Kebbi and Sokoto states on 6 and 9 April 2025,” he said.

He said the troops also recovered weapons, a motorcycle, beverages and the sum of N4,450.00 from the suspects.

In the same vein, troops recovered huge quantities of assorted arms including various kinds of machine guns, RPG tubes, automatic weapons as well as locally fabricated guns and Improvised Explosive Devices. A huge cache of assorted 7.62mm and 9mm ammunition, as well as live cartridges were recovered.
