Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says troops in theatres of operations across the country arrested 452 suspected terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements and rescued 284 kidnap victims in January 2026.
This is just as troops also neutralised terrorist commanders Basulhu, Ubaida, Qaid and his lieutenant, Munzir, among others in gun fights.
The director, defence media operations, Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja who gave the figures while briefing journalists yesterday said 124 terrorists as well as their family members also surrendered to troops.
Onoja said troops arrested a wanted kidnap kingpin identified as Amadu Adamu in Jamaá LGA of Kaduna State.
He said troops also destroyed 53 illegal refining sites during the month and arrested 81 suspected oil thieves and other criminals.
He reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to the successful conduct of ongoing military operations across all theatres.
He said troops remain focused, professional, and resolute in the discharge of their constitutional mandate to safeguard lives, property, and the territorial integrity of the nation.
He assured that the armed forces would continue to adapt, innovate, and respond decisively to evolving security threats.
