Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempted abduction and rescued 14 kidnapped victims during an operation in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

A military source who pleaded anonymity because he of junior ranks and not permitted to speak to press said the operation which took place on 25 August 2026, followed credible intelligence received by the troops on suspicious activities around Magazu Village.

Acting swiftly on the information, the troops deployed to the area and encountered armed individuals attempting to abduct civilians, including motorists.

The troops engaged the assailants, effectively neutralising the threat and forcing them to abandon their vehicle before fleeing into nearby bushes.

During a subsequent pursuit and search operation, the troops discovered and safely rescued 14 abducted victims.

One of the rescued victims, who sustained gunshot wounds, was immediately evacuated to the General Hospital, Tsafe, for medical attention.

No casualties were recorded among the security forces during the operation.

The successful operation underscores the continued commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to protecting civilians and denying criminal elements the freedom to operate across Zamfara State.
