Troops Have Reduced Terrorist Activities In Kebbi, Zamfara States — Army

Troops of 1 Brigade under Operation Fansar Yamma have recorded significant success in reducing terrorists’ activities in Kebbi and Zamfara states.

The Commander of 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Gusau, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum stated this during a Sallah luncheon with officers, soldiers and families at the Brigade Cantonment in Gusau on Tuesday.

General Opurum declared that the success recorded against the terrorists have subdued the ugly activities in their areas of responsibility.

He maintained that the security situation was previously challenging, but the army has gained dominance over the region and curtailed terrorists activities to a large event through sustained military dedication, and operations.

“The One Brigade has been doing well in our operation, especially the ongoing operation forest sanity III, you will recall that some few months back it was not that easy but with efforts of our troops, efforts of our officers, we have been able to dominate our AOR and subdue the terrorists to a very large extent”, Opurum said.

He commended the troops for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment, noting that in recognition of their efforts, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has approved additional logistics support to enhance their operation further.

The Commander while appreciating the troops on their efforts, also urged them to maintain their momentum and dedication to ensure all states in the North-West are secured for peace and economic sustainability and development.
“We must continue to fight until we destroy all enemies of the state and make Zamfara, Kebbi and rest of the states within the North-West region of this operation to be safe and secure for the socio-economic progress of the region.

“Because of the feat we have achieved, the Chief of Army Staff has graciously approved certain logistics for us to continue our operation, it means to whom much is given, much is expected, it means we need to double our efforts, it is not yet uhuru, there is still a lot of work to be done,” Opurum said.
