Troops Kill 2 Terrorists, Rescue 5 Victims In Zamfara, Katsina

Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed two terrorists and rescued five kidnap victims in Zamfara and Katsina States.

The Army on its official X handle said troops deployed in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State responded to a distress call on the attack of some farmers  by terrorists along Gidan Shaho Road.

The statement said the terrorists on sighting troops fled and abandoned the kidnap victims who were subsequently rescued.

The victims who were inflicted with gunshot wounds were evacuated to the General Hospital for medical attention.

In another development, troops responded to a kidnap incident along Road Fangaltama-Mayanchi in Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara State.

The troops trailed and engaged the fleeing criminals in a firefight killing two.

The troops rescued five commuters and recovered two AK-47 rifles, 8 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition and two mobile phones from the terrorists.

In another joint clearance operation with the Katsina State Civilian Joint Task Force, the troops successfully cleared suspected terrorists’ hideouts at Shawu, Dugun Fakwu, and Tafki Villages in Faskari local government area of Katsina State.

 

Troops during the operation recovered a fabricated gun and other dangerous weapons in the operation.
