Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed top terrorists’ leaders Ali Dawud, Bakurah Fallujah, Mallam Ari and 30 fighters in Borno State.
In Zamfara State, troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised 12 terrorists and captured 10 operational motorcycles during clearance operations.
In a statement issued yesterday by the director of public relations and information of NAF, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, he said the airstrike conducted by the Air Component of “Operation Hadarin Kai” (OPHK) on April 13, 2024, targeted the hideouts of ISWAP terrorists nestled within Kolleram village on the shores of Lake Chad.
Gabkwet said the Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) post-strike conducted revealed that over 30 terrorists were killed.
“Among those neutralised were some senior commanders such as Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah and Mallam Ari,” he said.
The airstrike also destroyed terrorists’ vehicles, motorcycles and logistical assets thereby, severely hampering their operational capabilities.
On the Zamfara operations, the director of army public relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the troops on Monday destroyed terrorists’ camp in Maru local government area and killed scores of terrorists during a meeting.
He said the troops acting on credible intelligence embarked on a targeted clearance operation to dismantle the suspected terrorists’ operational base in Maru.
He added that following a fierce gun battle with the terrorists, the troops neutralized 12 of the terrorists, compelling the others to flee.
The troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and two locally fabricated gun.
The troops captured 10 operational motorcycles used for mobility by the terrorists and recovered 18 rustled cows.
