Troops Kill 45 Terrorists

Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has said its troops deployed for internal operations in the North East, North West and North Central arrested 59 terrorists, collaborators, informants and other criminal elements and killed 45 terrorists while 974 terrorists surrendered to troops at different locations within the joint areas of operation.

The director, Defence Media Operations Major General Musa Danmadami during a weekly update on the Armed Forces of Nigeria operations between 23 March – 6 April 2023 said the troops recovered N2,321,015.00 cash from terrorists logistics suppliers and rescued 118 civilians from captives.

In the North East, he said the troops neutralised 21 terrorists, captured nine suspected terrorists, arrested 11 suspected terrorists logistic suppliers/collaborators, apprehended 2 terrorists and rescued 54 terrorist escapees while 974 terrorists comprising 77 adult males, 364 adult females and 533 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the joint areas of operation.

The troops recovered 14 AK47 rifles, two NSVT guns, one NSVT gun barrel, one QJC barrel, three RPG bombs, one Anti-Riot gun, three pump action guns, two hand  grenades, three PKT MG, three Gun Trucks, 188 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition, 142 rounds of 12.7x108mm ammunitions, 110 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 27 cartridges, 18 dane guns, 17 AK47 magazines and Improvised Explosive Device wires.

 Other items recovered include two grinding machines, one vulcanizing machine, one mechanic tool box, tyre rims, three pairs of Boko Haram uniforms, shovel, bags of assorted foodstuff, cartons of spaghetti, medical supplier, solar panels, 12 motorcycles, 13 bicycles, mobile phones, Boafeng radio, pouches, one vehicle and sum of N2,321,015.

In the North West, he said the troops of “Operation Hadarin Daji “neutralised 24 terrorists, apprehended 19 suspected criminals and rescued 43 abducted civilians.

They also recovered 10 AK47 rifles, nine AK47 magazines, 14 dane guns, 28 rounds of 7.62mm special, six motorcycles, radios and 76 rustled cattle.

Meanwhile, in the North Central, troops arrested nine suspected kidnappers and arrested nine criminals for various crimes while 21 kidnapped civilians were also rescued.

The troops recovered two AK47 rifles, two pistols, two pistol rounds, machetes, four ATM cards, five SIM cards, mobile phones and other sundry items.

He said all recovered items, arrested suspected criminals and rescued abducted civilians have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
