The troops in conjunction with other security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy, Police, Department of State Services and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, neutralised the hoodlums on Monday, July 29.

According to the statement, the gallant troops pursued the terrorists and contact was made.

“Intelligence has it that in addition to illegally declared July 29 – August 3, 2024 (a week-long) sit-at-home, the terrorists planned to hijack the national protest to cause mayhem and havoc on the innocent residents of the South-East,” the statement said.

Troops admonished all law abiding citizens to avoid being used as human shield by the terrorists.

The Operation UDO KA appealed to the good people of South-East to continue cooperating with security agencies by giving credible and timely information that will help to annihilate the criminals in the region.

Residents were enjoined to give relevant information to Operation UDO KA by dialing 193 and press Option 2 on their phone.

The statement pledged that the Joint Task Force will continue to carry out its constitutional roles of safeguarding lives and property in line with global best practices as laid down in the rules of engagement guiding its operations.
