The Nigerian Army says its troops have sustained high morale and operational momentum across theatres, successfully repelling terrorists’ threats and consolidating gains in Borno and Imo states.
Operational reports made available to the News Agency of Nigeria yesterday indicated that troops of Operation Hadin Kai defied terrorist threats and celebrated Eid-el-Fitr prayers peacefully in Ngoshe and Gwoza areas of Borno.
The report disclosed that insurgents had earlier issued propaganda threatening to seize Ngoshe and conduct Sallah prayers at the central mosque.
According to the military, troops swiftly reinforced the area following an earlier attack, supported by aerial surveillance and credible intelligence, leading to the neutralisation of several insurgents and disruption of their plans.
“As at Sallah day, Ngoshe and adjoining communities remained calm, with residents observing prayers without any incident,” the report stated.
In a symbolic show of dominance, it added that troops were observed participating in Eid prayers at the Ngoshe central mosque, effectively countering terrorist narratives and reinforcing government control.
The military commended the local population for their cooperation and vigilance, urging the public to disregard terrorist propaganda capable of undermining national security efforts.
It promised that operations would be sustained to consolidate gains and ensure enduring peace in affected areas.
The report also indicated that troops of 82 Division demonstrated resilience in ongoing operations in Orsu local government area of Imo, clearing several enclaves and strongholds despite encountering multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
It noted that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), represented at the 82 Division Special Sallah Luncheon held at Mother Valley, commended the troops for their courage and sacrifices.
