Two police officers have died on the spot after being crushed by a moving truck at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) main gate in Benin City, Edo State.

Videos making the rounds on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday have suggested that the officers were operating at the busy Ugbowo campus gate when the incident occurred around midday.

The horrifying scene caused panic among university students, staff, and passersby, many of whom watched helplessly as the officers lay lifelessly by the roadside in their police uniforms.

At the time of filing this report, the identities of the deceased officers have not been discovered, as the Edo State Police Command was yet to issue an official statement about the incident.
