Former US President Donald Trump, who is the Presidential candidate of the Republican Party in the November election and current  Vice President who is flying the flag of the Democrats, Kamala Harris, has agreed to a 10 September debate on ABC, the network has said, setting up the first showdown between the candidates.

Trump earlier held a rare news conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, stressing that he wanted to debate Harris multiple times and had agreed to three dates in September.

He also said he was “pretty much recovered” from the wound to his ear after an assassination attempt on his life last month. The US presidential election will be held on 5 November.

The two frontline candidates have much at stake ahead of the debate, which might enhance their chances or harm them.

Since Harris picked Tim Walz as her running mate, there is a chance she could use him to get more votes because of his reputation with the White population.
