United States President Donald Trump has warned that the US military would “completely decimate” Iran if Tehran attempted to assassinate him, amid reports of an alleged Iranian plot targeting the American leader.
Trump issued the warning in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying the United States had already prepared a massive military response should any attack on him be carried out.
“1000 missiles are locked and loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate me!” Trump wrote.
He added that the US military had already received orders to respond.
“Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able… to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran,” he said.
Trump’s comments followed reports that the United States recently received intelligence from Israel alleging a new Iranian plan to assassinate the president.
According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, Israeli officials shared intelligence with Washington this week describing what they said was a specific plot targeting Trump.
The development comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, further straining already fragile relations between the two countries.
Although US intelligence agencies have been monitoring what officials described as persistent threats against Trump in recent weeks, sources said the Israeli intelligence contained new information that had not previously been identified by American authorities.
However, US officials have not independently verified the Israeli claims and said the alleged assassination plot remains unsubstantiated.
