The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has disassociated itself from a recent statement circulated in the media regarding the upcoming Local Government Area (LGA) elections in Rivers State, warning against the unauthorised use of its name to push divisive political agendas within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a strongly worded disclaimer issued and signed by its Director-General, Dr. Umar Yakasai, the group made it clear that it had no involvement in any commentary or decisions surrounding the Rivers local government council polls.

The statement in question, which called on the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to take over the sale of nomination forms for the elections, had been attributed to a group of individuals, including Hon. Chinedu Egbenumolise, Barr. Oby Obiageli Nwufor, Larry Alison, Hon. Dominic Alancha, Hon. Akeem Olapade, Hon. Wilson Dauyegha, Hon. Chucks Nwanodu, Hon. Aminu Mutawalli, and Professor Ali Alao.

However, Yakasai firmly stated that the individuals were not recognised members or representatives of the Tinubu Support Group and had no authority to speak or act on its behalf.

“We wish to clarify that any communication emanating from the Tinubu Support Group will always be issued through our official channels and signed by authorized representatives only,” Yakasai said.

He warned that the group would not tolerate the misuse of its name for political interference, especially in a sensitive election period. “The Tinubu Support Group strongly cautions against the unauthorized use of its name in furtherance of any localized political agendas, especially those that may seek to further divide the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a critical time for the party,” he added.

Yakasai further noted that the group remains focused on national unity and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the TSG had no part in the discussions or strategies concerning the Rivers State LGA elections.

“The individuals who signed the statement do not have any official standing or authorization to speak on behalf of the Tinubu Support Group. Any official communication from the TSG will be issued through the National Secretariat and signed by the Director General or designated officers,” he clarified.

Reiterating the group’s mission, Yakasai said the TSG is a national coalition of dedicated supporters and volunteers working to advance President Tinubu’s policies and promote democratic governance at all levels.

He urged APC stakeholders across the country to maintain unity and avoid distractions that could undermine the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.

“Our focus is on strengthening party unity, promoting democracy, and ensuring inclusive development across Nigeria,” he stated.
