Musk, however, did not reveal the name of the new female CEO, whom he said will resume office in six weeks from now.

The billionaire techpreneur took to his Twitter handle to announce the development on Thursday, saying his role will now change to Executive Chairman and Chief Technical Officer (CTO), overseeing product, software and system operations at the company.

Musk wrote: “Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!

“My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”

LEADERSHIP reports that Twitter is set to explore more features on its platform.

Elon Musk had announced that with the latest version of the Twitter app, a slew of new features will be added to the platform.

“The social media app will come with support for DM replies, meaning users will have the ability to reply to any messages in the threads and not just the most recent ones and use emoji reaction,” he said.

Notably, Twitter is also coming out with encrypted DM 1.0, which should make DMs between users more secure.

Musk ssid that the ‘acid test’ of this feature will be that, even with a gun to his head, he would not be able to see other users’ DMs.

According to the social media platform, apart from DMs replies, more features will roll out soon, and this will support voice and video chat on Twitter. Musk said this feature will allow users to talk to people anywhere in the world without exchanging numbers.

This development will challenge the likes of WhatsApp, Telegram and other social media platforms currently offering the services.

In line with the development of the new feature, the Twitter owner announced that the company will soon remove accounts that have been inactive for several years, saying that the action is “important to free up abandoned handles.”

In order to avoid permanent removal due to prolonged inactivity, users should log in to their accounts at least once every 30 days, Twitter stated.
