Upon receiving the call, our emergency response team from the headquarters was immediately mobilised to the scene. On arrival, they found a two-year-old boy, Danjuma Salman, who had fallen into the well whose lid was damaged,ā€ the statement read.

Yusif said the rescue team successfully pulled the child out of the well unconscious, but he was later confirmed dead while the body was subsequently handed over to his father, Salman Dayyabu.

He advised residents to ensure that wells within their surroundings are securely covered to prevent similar tragedies.
