The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has dismissed a staff member, Malam Garba Ahmed, over his alleged involvement in the illegal mobilisation of unqualified students for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The decision was taken at the institution’s 176th Governing Council meeting held on April 1, 2026, according to a special bulletin issued by the university on Friday.

Ahmed, who served in the Registry Department prior to his dismissal, was found guilty of misconduct related to the unauthorised uploading of ineligible candidates for NYSC mobilisation.

In the bulletin issued by Ismaila Mohammed Yari, director of Information and Public Relations, the university wrote, “the Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University approved the dismissal of Malam Garba Ahmed from the University’s service.”

“Malam Garba was found guilty of illegally uploading unqualified students for NYSC mobilization,” the statement added.

The university further noted that the dismissal takes immediate effect from the date of the Council’s decision.

Yauri said the action reflects the institution’s firm stance against misconduct.

He added that the dismissal takes immediate effect from the date of the Council’s decision.

Reaffirming the university’s disciplinary position, Yauri stressed that, “the university maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards acts of serious or gross misconduct,” noting that due process was followed before the decision was reached.
