The stakeholders specifically called on the graduates of UI not to be afraid of failure but continue to invest in the improvement of their skills and capabilities to be relevant in the industry and the world.

Speaking at the  Fair as part of the activities  to mark this year’s graduation ceremony and the 75th Founder’s Day of the institution held at the International Conference Centre, Ibadan, sponsored by the First Bank Nigeria, the people and culture director, Japan Tobacco International, Mr Innocent Obinwanne, urged graduates to navigate opportunities beyond borders not necessarily relocating to another country.

“Navigating opportunities beyond borders means being equipped educationally, culturally, mentally and financially to grab job opportunities within and outside the country.

“With the global trend of careers being more fluid, up-skilling and re-skilling have become topmost priorities for most Global HR Leaders and CEO’s,” Obinwanne said.

He enjoined Nigerian graduates to be abreast of technological trends and their application to their various career choices, stressing the need for workers to acquire new skits in order to remain employable in the digital age.

Also, the chief executive officer of First Bank Group, Dr Adesola Adeduntan, underscored the importance of grooming young people through mentoring so that they could be the best of who they can be.

He stated that Nigerian graduates should look inward and create opportunities for themselves.

Citing his experience, Adedutan said he created an opportunity for himself in the banking industry despite having a veterinary medicine degree, adding that youths especially, must always think outside the box.

Adeduntan charged them to have positive mindsets and attitudes to life, adding that there were no limitations that they cannot turn into opportunities.
