National President of the University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates Association (UIMGA), Alhaji Imran AbdulMojeed gave the counsel on Sunday at the presentation of scholarship to 21 students of four universities held at the Prof. MOA Abdul Islamic Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The recipients for the 2025 annual scholarship award for 21 indigent Muslim students were drawn from the University of Ibadan, Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State; University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, and Bayero University Kano.

Alhaji AbdulMojeed enjoined the students to reciprocate the gesture by always assisting those in need of support within their best abilities without expecting any reward, urging them also to learn to be appreciative of kind gestures to them, no matter how small.

“You have to learn to utilize the opportunities within you reach and uphold the Islamic values by assisting those within your ability wherever you are. No act of kindness is too small as long as they are rendered with the good intentions.

“I encourage you to also maintain good characters, stay out of trouble and work very hard to graduate with excellent results,” Alhaji AbdulMojeed said.

Chairman of the Scholarship scheme, Alh. (Engr) Abdul Wale Adelakun also implored the students to pay back to the society with their active participation in the association’s activities after graduation.

He further challenged them to excel in their respective careers after graduation to enable them to also be at the right standing to mobilise funds towards sustaining and expanding the scheme for the benefit of others.

“What you are benefitting today can also be extended to more students in the future. We trust in your ability to excel in your different careers to sustain this vision and even get more beneficiaries to draw from it in the future,” Adelakun said.

A total of twenty-one undergraduates received a sum of N50,000 each amounting to N1,050,000 in the 19th edition of the annual awards.

The National President acknowledged all donors home and abroad for their kind gesture and prayed that Almighty Allah reward them abundantly.

Other alumni of that graced the event include UIMGA’s National Vice President, Alh. Abdullahi Fasasi; National Vice President-Female, Prof. Shetifat Aboaba; the General Manager of an Ibadan-based Pensioners FM, Dr Babatunde Tiamiyu; alongside Alhaja Aminat Arogundade, Bro.
