UN Population Fund Renews Support On Gender Violence

The United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) has renewed support for the Kaduna State Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development on prevention of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and empowerment programmes for women, child marriage and other social issues.

The UN team led by the programme coordinator, Kaduna Decentralized Office, Loide Amkongo, made this known during a courtesy visit to the commissioner, Hajia Rabi Salisu in her office in Kaduna.

Amkongo said she and her colleagues were in the commissioner’s office to congratulate her on her appointment and also to encourage her on their support particularly on prevention of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and empowerment programmes for women, child marriage and other issues that fall under the ministry.

The commissioner while expressing appreciation for the visit, thanked the UN for contributions, especially in the area of GBV, maternal morbidity and child mortality, VVF and other interventions.

“We also appreciate the UN Population Fund for always lending their support and for fighting and protecting the rights of women, children and young girls,” she added.
