The International Organisation of United Nations (UN) Volunteers (IOUNV) has presented a Global Peace Diplomat Award to Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Wanki, the permanent secretary, Budget Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Abuja.

The IOUNV global peace diplomat in Nigeria, Alhaji Hussaini Abubakar Agayi, who presented the Peace Medal Award on SDGs 16 and 17 as Global Peace Diplomat, said the presentation was part of the IOUNV’s commemoration of the International Day of Tolerance.

He said IOUNV recognises Wanki’s contribution and dedication to nation-building, good governance, peace and service to humanity over the years, which, he said, adds credibility and a facelift to the federal government’s led governance on peace.

Agayi said the IOUNV is a non-governmental organisation registered with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. This civil society organisation is also an official partner of the SDGs.

He stated that the primary objective of IOUNV is also to promote UN peace objectives and the concept of community volunteerism, and the award was presented to Alh. Adamu Wanki is coming ahead of the forthcoming 2025 International Day of Tolerance.
