Determined to reposition Akwa Ibom State from her current civil service orientation to vibrant business economy, Governor Umo Eno, has underscored the importance of strong ties and collaboration with the state indigenes in the diaspora.

According to the governor, the task of navigating the state to become a big player in business, tourism and industrial hub required a holistic action plan by all stakeholders both within and outside the country.
Speaking at the weekend during the commissioning of a multi – million Naira water processing factory at Nkim Itam, in Itu local government area of the state, the governor who was represented by the commissioner for Trade and Investment, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (rtd), noted that the establishment of the plant by the state indigene, was a patriotic venture that aligned with the ARISE Agenda blueprint of the administration.

Inaugurating the project, the governor commended the investment and applauded the initiator, Dr. Usen Equan, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the firm, for thinking homeward by ploughing back his resources garnered abroad to develop the state.

Urging other diaspora members to team up with the administration’s drive towards addressing the challenges of unemployment, hunger, infrastructure deficit, education, health and other factors slowing down the growth of the state, the governor stressed the need for patriotic commitment to building an egalitarian society for the citizenry.

Under the ARISE Agenda blueprint, governor explained various interventions in education, health, roads, human capital development and social empowerments, adding that the state remains a beacon of hope for investments given the enabling environment with strong security apparatus in place.

“We are committed to working with everyone to develop the state”, he assured.

In his welcome address, Dr Equan, the CEO, SIRLIFE Water Project Limited (SWPL), recalled that “this milestone represents not only our commitment to delivering quality water solutions, but also our dedication to the people and progress of Itu and Akwa Ibom State.”

While thanking the governor for the support, Equan, expressed delight, noting that “your guidance and unwavering support have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.”

Beside, he extended his felicitations to all the diaspora members, whom he said jettisoned their comforts, traveling all the way from the United States, Canada, and The United Kingdom (UK), to grace the occasion, as well as the royal fathers for their blessings.

“Your belief in SirLife Water Limited fuels our drive to serve and to contribute to a healthier, brighter future for our region,” he stressed.
