A Nongovernmental Organisation (NGO) committed to human development and entrepreneurship has expressed concerns about the rising unemployment index in Akwa Ibom State and stressed the need for youths to embrace vocational skills.
Under the aegis of Access to Human Success (AHS), the programme coordinator, Comrade Aniekan Etuk, explained that the training became necessary to redirect the focus of youths away from the white collar jobs to skills acquisition.
Addressing a press conference in Uyo, on the upcoming Wealth and Leadership Conference at Dueua Hotel and Suites, Uyo, the state capital at the weekend, Aniekan, explained that the training billed for Ibom Hall, IBB Way, September 2024, will attract entrepreneurs and investment experts, who are expected to train the 3,000 participants in various vocational skills.
He emphasised the need for effective leadership and wealth creation strategies for Nigerian youths to be able to navigate their way out of crimes, while contributing meaningfully to create positive impacts especially with the rising cost of living.
He said: “The wealth and leadership conference is designed to equip individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in their personal and professional lives,” Aniekan stated. “We have assembled a team of experts who will share their experiences and expertise on various aspects of leadership and wealth creation.
“We are undertaking this assignment because everyone cannot work in government. Government’s space is already saturated, therefore, the youths must be challenged to create their own capacity for self – development.”
“We anticipate a gathering of like-minded individuals who are eager to learn and grow. Our goal is to create a ripple effect of positive change in our community and beyond,” he added.
