The Member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, Hon. Leke Abejide, has emphasised the importance of unity and collective responsibility in actualising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council’s Easter Cantata, themed “Renewal and Hope: Harnessing the Transformative Power of Unity and Progress,” Abejide highlighted the critical role of the media in shaping national discourse.

Despite initial challenges, he commended the current administration’s efforts to steer the nation towards economic recovery and social cohesion.

Drawing from a Yoruba adage, Abejide remarked, “The result of a bitter leaf after squeezing and taking a bitter taste of it is delicious sweetness,” illustrating the potential rewards of enduring initial hardships for long-term gains.

He outlined steps towards achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising the need to acknowledge challenges, take responsibility, maintain discipline, identify resources, and take bold actions.

“Great countries of the world passed through the furnace before becoming refined gold,” he stated.

Abejide called for unity among globally and locally inclined institutions to work in tandem with programs consistent with Nigeria’s developmental agenda.

He stressed that the prosperity envisioned by the Renewed Hope Agenda aims to drive economic development and improve the quality of life for all citizens.

He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and hopeful, drawing inspiration from the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a cornerstone for renewed hope and a brighter future.
