The Global Alliance for Peace and Unity (GAPU) has backed Nigeria’s minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, praising her conciliatory handling of a recent protest by ministry staff.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim met with workers in a town hall meeting days after the demonstration, pledging improved welfare, better tools, prompt reimbursements, and enhanced training opportunities.
Rather than express anger, the minister described herself as a “listening mother”, extending forgiveness to staff and assuring them of her commitment to their well-being.

GAPU welcomed her response. In a statement issued on Saturday, National President Solomon Pevkyaa said the minister’s calm and motherly approach had restored confidence among workers and stakeholders.

He added that her promise of “better days ahead” was proof of a genuine commitment to the ministry and women’s empowerment across Nigeria.

Pevkyaa also called on staff to embrace dialogue, unity, and patience, stressing that the minister had demonstrated openness and readiness to address their grievances.

“With her assurances on welfare, tools, and training, we believe the Honourable Minister has once again shown that she is a leader who listens, forgives, and builds bridges of understanding,” GAPU declared.
