UNIUYO Promotes 153 Professors, Over 700 Others In 2023

As the year 2023 comes to a close on Sunday, December 31, the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) management has reviewed the activities of the past year, highlighting achievements in academic and non-academic departments of the institution.

Towards boosting the morale of staff, the Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, LEADERSHIP gathered, has elevated no fewer than “153 Academic Staff to the rank of Professors within the 2023 appraisal year.”

The latest batch, according to the Registrar and Senate’s Secretary, Mrs. Blossom Okorie, as announced by the VC at the 129th meeting of the Senate of the University held on December 20, 2023, stood at 23.

Giving the breakdown of the promotion to the professorial ranks during the year, Okorie explained that “67 were promoted Professors, while 86 were promoted to the rank of Associate Professors by the Vice-Chancellor during the 124th and 129th meetings of the Senate of the University held within the year.”

The Vice-Chancellor, she added, commended the beneficiaries and reiterated the commitment of his administration to staff welfare, especially in the area of promotion and other workplace rewards, as and when due.

“Similarly, at the several meetings of the Appointments and Promotions
Committees (APCs) of the University held between 13th and 19th December 2023, more than 700 staff across the Academic, Senior Non-Teaching/ Technical and Junior staff categories were promoted.

“In another development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo is
pleased to extend his sincere compliments to staff, students and the entire university community on the celebration of Christmas by Christians the world over.

“The Vice-Chancellor deeply appreciates the positive contributions and
efforts of all members of the University community towards the development
of the institution and the various achievements recorded in the year 2023,” she stressed.
