The police have confirmed the abduction of the resident pastor with the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, better known as Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria (EYN), Rev. James Kwayang and his Secretary, Rev. Ishaku Chiwar, in Adamawa State.
Police Public Relations Office (PPRO) of Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the abduction of the priests to LEADERSHIP.
Nguroje stating that the command has already deployed personnel to rescue the two clergymen from their abductor.
The priests serving at EYN local church council (LCC) at Mbila- Malibu were abducted on Sunday around 11 pm in Song local government area of the state.
EYN President, Rev. Daniel Mbaya who also confirmed the abduction, called on security personnel to take immediate action to ensure the safe release of the pastors.
He urged other religious leaders, the entire EYN church and Nigerians to join the church in fervent prayers for the safe release of the abducted pastors.
“We call all Nigerians and the entire EYN community to join us in prayers for the safe and speedy release of the two men of God, comfort and strength for their families and loved ones, wisdom and effectiveness for the security personnel working towards their release as well as for peace and protection for the EYN community and all those affected by this incident.
He added, “This incident has sent shockwaves throughout the EYN community, and we request your prayers and support during this difficult time.”
LEADERSHIP reports that the abductors were yet to be identified and have not contacted the church or the families of their abductees at the time of this report.
