His arrival, however, coincided with the arrival of a group of armed thugs to the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat of the PDP at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

The thugs moved into the office building and were seen moving around the premises harassing party workers.

This comes barely two days after the PDP national chairman, Illiya Damagum, announced the one-month suspension of Anyanwu and some other NWC members over alleged anti-party activities.

Anyanwu had in a counter move announced the pruported suspension of Damagum and some other NWC members of the party.

The presence of the thugs intimidated party staff, security personnel, and journalists covering the unfolding crisis.

Anyanwu, however, left the premises after spending some minutes in his office.

LEADERSHIP earlier reported that the thugs, chanting solidarity songs and waving placards, accused the Damagum-led NWC of “mismanaging party affairs” and vowed to “reclaim the party’s soul” for the Mohammed Abdulrahman-led faction, where Anyanwu belonged.
