American actress Selma Blair has been issued a summons over an alleged assault involving flight attendants aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York, according to a federal law enforcement source cited by the BBC.
The incident occurred on Flight 938 as it travelled to John F. Kennedy International Airport. The New York Port Authority said two attendants were injured, with one taken to hospital.
Blair, 54, was arrested and taken to hospital after the incident. Her publicist said the actress had experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct and was in a stable condition after receiving medical attention.
The summons requires Blair to appear at a petty violation court in Brooklyn, although a date has not yet been set.
Delta said law enforcement responded when the plane landed, adding that the incident did not affect flight operations. The airline also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards unruly or unlawful behaviour.
Best known for films including Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and Hellboy, Blair has spoken publicly about her battle with multiple sclerosis, which she disclosed in 2018. She announced in 2021 that the disease was in remission.
The actress was also involved in an incident aboard a flight in 2016, later apologising and saying she had accidentally mixed medication with alcohol.
