Multiple states, cities, and counties across the United States officially celebrated Dolly Parton Day on Friday, September 25, 2026, honoring the legacy and contributions of the late country music star.
The date September 25 (9/25)was selected in honor of Parton’s famous single and movie 9 to 5.
Governors in California and Ohio signed proclamations establishing the official observance in their respective states, with similar legislation currently under consideration in New York and Pennsylvania.
As part of the nationwide commemorations, the non-profit organization Musicians On Call organized live and recorded musical performances at major hospitals across cities including Nashville, Chicago, Denver, New York, and San Francisco.
In Nashville, local attractions hosted themed events, including exhibitions at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and charitable initiatives. Revenue generated at select venues during the day was designated for donation to the Imagination Library, the free book-gifting foundation established by Parton in 1995.
