A couple from Oklahoma in the United States has been charged after allegedly using a teenage girl as a surrogate.
Nathan Potier and Erica Palmer, both 36, are accused of involving a 14-year-old girl in a pregnancy that reportedly resulted in twins. The teenager is now 15.
The Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) reportedly obtained a search warrant for Potier’s DNA for a paternity test. However, before the test could be conducted, Potier and Palmer allegedly fled the state.
The suspects were later arrested in Sparks, Nevada, on March 17 by the United States Marshals Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, according to a statement from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
Potier is charged with sexual abuse of a child, while Palmer is charged with enabling child abuse.
The WCSO said task force detectives tracked the pair to the Reno-Sparks area, more than 1,000 miles from Oklahoma City, after receiving intelligence that they may have been hiding there. They were eventually arrested in a coordinated operation and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility.
“They will be extradited to Oklahoma County to face the charges originating from that jurisdiction,” WCSO said.
The investigation reportedly began in December 2025 after Child Protective Services (CPS) referred the case to police, stating that a teenage girl was pregnant with twins and that the suspected father was her mother’s 36-year-old boyfriend, according to court documents cited by KFOR-TV.
Palmer told police, according to the outlet, that she wanted children with her boyfriend but was unable to conceive because her tubes were tied. She also claimed that her daughter “desperately wanted additional siblings.”
