Democratic presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, has shared her vision for building an “opportunity economy”.

Kamala spoke during a pre-taped interview aired Monday on Univision Radio’s Spanish-language programme, El Bueno, La Mala y El Feo.

In the interview, Kamala Harris laid out her economic proposals, which included bolstering homeownership, expanding access to small business loans, and providing greater child tax credits.

“My vision of the economy for growth is what I call an opportunity economy, understanding that everyone has ambition, they have hard work ethic, they have the skills, but not always the access to the resources to achieve their goals and their dreams,” Kamala explained. Her remarks, originally delivered in English, were translated for the audience.

Harris also touched on efforts to improve economic conditions in Puerto Rico. Among her proposals was addressing the island’s outdated and unreliable electric grid, which has been a longstanding issue for the US territory.

Throughout the interview, Harris emphasised her commitment to expanding economic opportunities, particularly for underserved communities, underscoring the importance of creating pathways for those who may lack the resources needed to fully realise their potential.
