Swiftship, a US-based military manufacturing company, has donated two high-tech unmanned water vessels to the Nigerian government.

The equipment, known as the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, were presented during a recent visit by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

According to a Friday statement by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Henshaw Ogubike, the Minister travelled to the US to inspect facilities of several high-tech military hardware companies.

Presenting the vessels to President Bola Tinubu, the minister noted that they would aid in protecting the country’s maritime environment and other areas. He stated they would be deployed in the Niger Delta, Lake Chad region, and other maritime regions.

The statement read: “The Minister of State for Defence presented two hi-tech unmanned water vessels to President Bola Tinubu at the Villa to help fight insecurity on our waterways in particular and the nation in general. The two unmanned ships were donated by Swift Ship Company in the USA to the Nigerian government.”
