A United States federal judge has ordered American football star Stefon Diggs to explicitly explain how he knows the man accusing him of sexual assault, ruling that simply calling him an “acquaintance” is not enough.

The ruling was part of an ongoing legal battle between the National Football League (NFL) wide receiver and his accuser, Christopher Blake Griffith.

Griffith has accused the sports star of drugging and sexually assaulting him in 2023, as well as orchestrating a violent attack against him later on. Diggs has repeatedly denied all the allegations and filed a defamation countersuit, claiming Griffith fabricated the entire story to damage his reputation.

During the court proceedings, the judge ordered Diggs to provide a truthful, complete, and non-evasive response detailing his exact relationship with the accuser before the alleged incident.

The judge also directed the NFL star to give full answers regarding his interactions with Griffith in May 2023, and to identify the specific individuals who were present at his residence in Rockville, Maryland, during that period.
