United States of America (USA’s) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has honoured the deputy commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kebbi State Ojo Patrick Idowu with an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Security and Intelligence.

The award is in recognition of his exceptional service, leadership and enduring contributions to national security.

The ceremony held yesterday at the Banquet Hall of the Merit Award House, Abuja, was attended by senior security officials, academics, policymakers, traditional rulers and development partners.

In his remarks, Prof. James William from the university, said Ambassador Idowu’s selection followed a rigorous, merit-driven assessment by the Department of Security and Intelligence.

He said Idowu’s operational discipline, ethical command, philosophy and strategic impact within the security sector distinguished him among the nominees, describing the conferment as an academic endorsement of service-based excellence.

Within the NSCDC, particularly in Kebbi State, the honoree is acknowledged for strengthening civil protection frameworks, deepening inter-agency synergy and promoting intelligence-led operations responsive to local security dynamics.

According to William, Idowu’s leadership has reinforced public confidence in the corps while advancing its statutory mandate of protecting critical national assets and civilian lives.

his acceptance remarks, Idowu expressed gratitude to the university for the “humbling and historic honour.” He dedicated the doctorate to officers and men of the NSCDC, noting that their collective sacrifice and professionalism formed the backbone of every achievement attributed to his office.

Earlier in the year, he was installed as the 1st San Turakin Ngaski Kingdom by the Yauri Emirate Council of Kebbi State, which was conferred on him in recognition of his contributions to peacebuilding, community cohesion and inclusive leadership within the emirate.
