The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated 75,300 HIV/AIDS rapid test kits to the Kebbi State government to fight against the dreaded disease in the state.
While presenting the items to the state government, USAID/Nigeria deputy director HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis Office, Omosalewa Oyelaran, said the agency has been collaborating with Nigeria since 2003 through Federal Ministry of Health and the state agencies for the control of HIV/AIDS to eliminate the disease in the country.
She said the donation came through IHS Towers, a leading global provider of telecom infrastructure valued at $71,000.
The representative of IHS Towers, Cima Shalotan disclosed that the donation of 75,300 kits was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to eliminate HIV/AIDS in the state.
She said IHS Towers Company which has infrastructure in over 11 countries with seven in Africa including Nigeria represented the independent tower operators in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State who received the items said they would help to reduce the HIV/AIDS scourge in the state.
