The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said it spent $10.1 million in rebuilding the livelihoods of 30,211 people affected by insurgency in 90 communities in the North East.
USAID chief of party, Nigeria Northeast Connection, Mr Albert Pam, gave the figure at an overview close out programme at American University of Nigeria in Yola.
He said the programme is targeted at strengthening cohesion in communities and mitigate risks to violent extremism and conflicts.
He said 88 trauma healing programmes, targeted at vulnerable groups, repentant insurgents and IDPs, were conducted as part of reintegration in the benefiting states.
He added, “USAID financial assistance reached over 55 Chaos which helped stakeholders across programmes communities.
“Creative trained 21 nascent organisations and supported them with in-kind grants to implement projects responding to the needs of their communities.”
District Head of Borrong, Mr Lawson Gadiel, appreciated the agency for the intervention from the American people.
