United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has intervened to revamp moribund and outdated Ariaria Aba, and Ubakala Umuahia water projects in Abia State.
The state commissioner for information and culture, Okey Kanu stated this while briefing journalists in Umuahia, the capital on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting chaired by the governor, Alex Otti.
He said the intervention is among the latest forms of assistance the administration has attracted to turn around the state’s fortunes.
His counterpart of the Ministry of Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu, spoke further on Monday. When completed, the projects will supply water to 320 homes each, totalling 640 homes.
“It’s completely our partners that are financing the water schemes. They have been going through the process of hiring contractors that will execute them,” he noted.
Contributing, the chief press secretary to the governor, Ukoha Njoku-Ukoha said his office had begun updating of the ministries, departments and agencies for presentation in still and motion pictures.
