UsawaConnect Debuts To Ease Compliance With Tax E-Invoice

Nigerian businesses have been urged to accelerate compliance with emerging e-invoicing regulations as Pillarcraft Cloud Solutions, the technology subsidiary of Agbi Bayode and Co., unveiled a new platform, UsawaConnect, to support the transition.

The launch comes amid sweeping changes to Nigeria’s tax compliance framework, which now requires invoices to be digitally validated, assigned unique identifiers, and transmitted through approved government systems before they are recognised as valid.

Industry observers note that the shift represents a fundamental transformation in how businesses manage invoicing, revenue reporting, and tax obligations.

Under the new regime, invoices are no longer mere transaction documents.
They must meet strict digital requirements, including structured validation, unique reference identification, and electronic submission through authorised platforms.

Despite the significance of the reform, many businesses are yet to fully prepare for its implementation.

Analysts warn that failure to comply could lead to invoice rejection, delayed payments, operational disruptions, and increased exposure during tax audits. The rollout of the e-invoicing framework is being implemented in phases.

Companies with annual turnover above ₦5 billion are already under enforcement, having been expected to complete implementation.

Medium-sized firms with turnover between ₦1 billion and ₦5 billion are currently within the compliance window, with a deadline set for July 2026 and enforcement scheduled to commence in January 2027.

This timeline places considerable pressure on affected organisations to act swiftly.
UsawaConnect is positioned as a bridge between existing business systems and regulatory requirements.

The platform enables organisations to retain their current accounting, enterprise resource planning, or point-of-sale systems, while automatically generating compliant invoices and transmitting them seamlessly to the Nigeria Revenue Service platform.

According to the developers, this approach
removes the need for complex and costly system overhauls, while ensuring full adherence to regulatory standards.

Chief Executive Officer of Pillarcraft Accounting and Cloud Solutions, Bayode Agbi, said the success of the transition would depend largely on professional intermediaries. “E-invoicing is not something most businesses can implement on their own.

Accountants and advisors will be at the center of this transition. UsawaConnect enables them to deliver this efficiently, while helping businesses stay compliant without disruption,” he said. To support this ecosystem, the company also introduced the UsawaConnect Partner Programme.

The initiative is designed to empower accounting firms, tax practitioners, and technology consultants to provide implementation services, guide clients through compliance processes, and develop new advisory and recurring revenue streams.

Stakeholders say the programme positions professionals as critical enablers of Nigeria’s evolving digital tax system.

UsawaConnect is built to cater to businesses at different stages of readiness, including large organisations already under enforcement, medium-sized firms approaching compliance deadlines, and small and medium enterprises seeking scalable solutions.

Pillarcraft noted that the platform integrates seamlessly into existing workflows, minimising disruption while ensuring compliance.

The company added that the solution is now live and accessible nationwide, offering businesses and professionals an immediate pathway to align with the country’s new e-invoicing requirements.
