Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Rotimi Aladekugbe has urged the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, to use his position to promote peace, unity, and development in the ancient city.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service held in honour of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadaland at the Cathedral Church of St. Peters, Aremo, Ibadan, was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life, including traditional rulers, politicians, and religious leaders.
As he began his reign, the bishop also prayed for wisdom, guidance, and strength for the new monarch.
In his address, Oba Olakulehin thanked God for the opportunity to serve as the Olubadan of Ibadanland and promised to work for its progress and prosperity.
The monarch expressed gratitude to the people of Ibadanland for their support and cooperation during his coronation process.
Olubadan was accompanied to the service by his children and other royal family members.
The service featured hymns, prayers, thanksgiving, and a particular hymn in honour of the new monarch.
The monarch’s son, Prince Folasekemi Olakulehin, thanked God for making the day a reality.
He described his father’s long journey to the throne as worthwhile, adding that the royal family will continue to be grateful to God for the privilege to serve the people.
Former governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadaland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, Ibadan obas and mogajis as well as prominent Ibadan indigenes graced the occasion.
It would be recalled that Oba Olakulehin was officially presented with the instrument and staff of office on July 12, 2024, by the state governor, Seyi Makinde, in an epoch-making occasion held at the Mapo Hall open ground.
