A coalition of age-long patriots of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the southern part of Nigeria known as South-East Grassroots Ambassadors has called on the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider an all-inclusive united Nigeria under his administration.
It also requested the support of the president-elect to ensure that the position of Senate President is zoned to the South-east region for the sake of equity.
The coalition made the call in a letter to president-elect Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, and signed by Hon. Ilokolobia Cornel Chukwugozie, coordinator, South East Grassroots Ambassadors and 2023 APC candidate for Anambra State House of Assembly, Dunukofia constituency.
Chukwugozie felicitated with Tinubu on his emergence as the winner of 2023 presidential election and reaffirmed their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the group has been a strong supporter since 2015.
The letter reads in part: “South-East Grassroots Ambassadors is a coalition of age- long patriots of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South-East, Nigeria. This coalition is made of a team: #IstandwithBuhari, #IstandwithNigeriaforTinubu and APC State Houses of Assembly Candidates from five South-East States.
“As patriots of the All Progressives Congress, APC, we were in the forefront for the birth of President Buhari’s administration in 2015. With many other South Easterners, we voted for President Buhari in 2015, although some overzealous South- East politicians in the then Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, in conjunction with INEC, shortchanged us and wrote the results against our will and votes.
“We didn’t relent despite the unencouraging effects of the 2015 election results against us, we stood strongly in support of President Buhari.
“Later in 2016, I, as the South-East Coordinator of #IstandwithBuhari Movement, hosted One Million-Man Match for President Buhari in Awka, to welcome him back from the UK after his six months medical trip.
