The Labour Party yesterday presented Dr. Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa  in a statement said the adoption came after extensive consultations across the party’s structures, with leaders agreeing that Dr. Okereke’s profile best reflects the party’s vision for competent and accountable governance.

“The consensus process was designed to avoid divisive contests and to project unity as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle. A distinguished governance expert, policy strategist and reform advocate, Dr. Okereke has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading voices on public policy and institutional he said development,” he said.

He said Dr. Okereke also serves as legislative consultant to key committees and ranking members of the National Assembly, where he advises on policy design and oversight.

The Labour Party said his leadership, intellectual depth and commitment to good governance embody the transformational leadership Nigeria requires at this critical moment.
