The Imo State Government has revoked over 200 properties allegedly misappropriated by the former Governor Rochas Okorocha-led administration in the State.

Briefing journalists in her office, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Networking, Chantel Adanna Onwuzuruike, stressed that the recovery and restoration of the properties represented one of the achievements of the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led administration.

According to her, among the recovered properties, which are of paramount importance to the State government, was that of the Kinsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, in Ideato South LGA of the State.

She said that the university, which was built with over N40billion of state funds, was allegedly misappropriated by the former governor of the state, adding that the administration also recovered a number of markets, which were built with state funds in various parts of the state, but were handed over to the cronies of the immediate-past administration.

She highlighted that Governor Uzodimma also recovered Imo Standard Shoes from AMCON and cleared off the N1.6billion debt with a view to industrialising the state and create jobs.

According to her, the current administration has embarked on the construction of an ultra-modern market, which has over 3,000 shops, and will house a police station, banks, a fire service station and many other facilities and services that are obtainable in a modern market.

On agriculture, she said that the governor, in collaboration with NALDA, reconstructed and revived the dilapidated Acharaubo Farm in Owerri North LAGA and recorded numerous number of trained agriculturists.

The SA said that based on the recommendations of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry, Governor Uzodinma embarked on the courageous task of revoking all properties, which were unjustly appropriated by members of the previous administrations and returned them to their rightful owners.

According to her, the Royal Palm Estate, which was built on a green area with tax payers’ money have been recovered alongside the Shell Camp Quarters containing almost 50 plots of land, which were illegally seized from the rightful owners and sold or given to cronies.

On road rehabilitation, she pointed out that the Governor has revolutionalise road construction, which can be grouped into three, namely; urban/city renewal roads, economically important roads and the inter-city roads.

According to her, Uzodimma undertook the audacious task of simultaneously renovating and constructing a total of over 90 roads, adding that some of them have now been completed while the others were at various levels of completion.
