The managing director, Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed has reiterated his call on communities in Plateau State to come to the rescue of the company by protecting its installations from being vandalised by unscrupulous element.

Engr Mohammed made the call when representatives of Kwang and Mangu Hali communities in Plateau State paid him courtesy visits in his office.

The main managing director who was heavily disturbed by the rate of vandalisation of electricity facilities, especially the transformers called on communities to help in safeguarding them.

“Help us to secure our facilities against vandalism. You can see that about 18 communities are currently having various cases of vandalism”, he disclosed.

The managing director described the alarming situation as a very serious problem and said it poses a lot of security challenges stressing that “ it creates security, social and economic convulsion”.

He, therefore charged the various communities in the company’s franchise areas to organise vigilante groups which he assured would be greatly supported by the company.

In his words, “This is a very serious problem. It is deepening into our resources. It is a thorn in our flesh. Every day, there are cases of vandalism on our network. We will support the vigilantes to help us in curbing the menace.
